Light The Night Against Crime 5k Run/Walk August 9, 2012 - Calvin College

Silent Observer is all about healthy living and leading a healthy lifestyle because that is a key element in a healthy and safe community.  Therefore Silent Observer is planning Light the Night Against Crime, a 5K run/walk where people will come together to take back the streets of Grand Rapids.  The focus is community, empowerment, and action.

This is being planned as a fun-filled family event.  Starting at 5 p.m.  there will be interactive expo booths that will be of interest to all attendees and a police equipment display.  The 5K Race begins at 7 p.m. Timing is provided by Classic Race Management.

Silent Observer is dedicating Light The Night Against Crime to solving three unsolved homicides.

  • Janna Kelly – disappeared in December 2007 and was found murdered in March of 2008
  • Erica Sevigny – was killed by a hit and run driver in April of 2010
  • Lee Priester – was shot and killed in July of 2007

We hope that by publicizing these cases again, those with important information will come forward to help solve these crimes and to help the victim’s families seek justice and find closure.

A portion of the monies raised from Light the Night Against Crime will go towards a victim memorial when we participate in the Day of Remembrance and Hope on Tuesday, September 25.

Thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Calvin College for their sponsorship of Light the Night Against Crime!
